There have been a number of changes to the lineup of Green Party councillors since the start of the new ear.
Last month, Cllrs Liam Sinclair (Tallaght Central) and Peter Kavanagh (Clondalkin) resigned from the Green Party due to issues around party culture and differences on national policy. They continue to serve their constituents ably as Independent councillors and we are continuing to operate as a unified group on the council (albeit now composed of two Greens plus two Independents.)
In an unrelated development, in recent weeks Cllr Clare O'Byrne (Firhouse-Bohernabreena) has announced her intention to step down from her council post due to changing personal circumstances. Clare will be much missed by all of us in the green grouping and has been an exemplary public representative since her co-option in February 2020, working tirelessly for her constituents, asking incisive questions, and supporting her colleagues across issues of every kind. We wish her all the very best and hope to see her return to a political role at some point in the future.
